One Book One School

Each year, the FSMH Multicultural Network sponsors the One Book, One School program. Past books have included Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson, When the Shadbush Blooms by Carla Messinger with Susan Katz, and Harlem by Walter Dean Myers.

For the 2012-2013 school year, the One Book, One School program is reading and exploring the book Earth Care: World Folktales to Talk About by Margaret Read MacDonald. This collection of more than 40 stories from 30 cultures touches upon ecological themes: caring for the land, caring for other creatures, how all things are connected and how we can plan for the future. Written by folklorist and storyteller Margaret Read MacDonald, this book is humorous, profound and deceptively simple.
